New lower pricing on Lexmark T640 MICR Toner Cartridges

We’re over stocked on Genuine Lexmark 64015SA toner cartridges used in the Lexmark T640, T642, T644 laser printers. While supplies last the new Lexmark 64015SA standard yield toner cartridge is on sale for $121 down from $139.

We’ve also permanently lowered the price on the new Lexmark T640 high yield MICR toner cartridge from $460 to $360. How can we do this? We start with a NEW Lexmark standard yield (6K) 64015SA toner cartridge, but retrofit it with the high yield load of MICR toner (20K). This provides a great savings to our customers while still providing a new modified Lexmark product.

HP Releases New Firmware to Allow Wireless Printing from iPhone

HP has just released new firmware to bring mobile printing technology to LaserJet printers. Previously only HP inkjets were capable of utilizing the ePrint product. Printers compatible with the new update include LaserJet Pro CP1025nw, M1217nfw MFP, 1102w, P1560, 1600, and P175nw. All of these devices once updated will be compatible with AirPrint which will allow users to print directly from an Apple iPhone or iPad.

The new firmware update will also allow users to use HP’s new Print Control app which will notify the user if the toner used is original HP or remanufactured / non-OEM. In addition Print Control will allow you to print, scan or copy from your iPhone, scan documents directly to FaceBook or Google Documents and more.

Advantage offers both the LaserJet P1606dn MICR Laser Printer and the P1102W MICR Laser Printer for printing checks. I’d like to see an iPhone app to print checks wirelessly from your iPhone. Say you need to write a check in a hurry, just type in the payee and amount into your iphone, and print. What could be better?

HP CE390A / CE390X MICR Toner for LaserJet 600 Series

HP has just released the new LaserJet 600 Series of laser printers. The 600 series is fast ranging from 45 to 62 pages per minute. The printers are based upon a 8.5″ format, meaning the largest size paper they will accept is 8.5×14. The 602 and 603 printers also include a 10-key keypad for secure document printing using a PIN.

As with the P4015 line, the CE390X high yield toner cartridge will not fit the entire 600 series line of printers. The M601 line will not accept the high yield toner cartridge, only the M602 & M603 lines.

We are now stocking two products for the M600 line, the CE390A New MICR Toner Cartridge and the CE390X New MICR Toner Cartridge. These are both new MICR cartridges and not remanufactured. As the cartridge is very similar to the CC364A and CC364X MICR toner cartridges, we expect to have a remanufactured version available by March of 2012, assuming we have a good supply of empty toner cartridges.

The 600 series will replace the P4000 series which includes the P4014, P4015, P4150 printers. The pricing is lower, the printer is quieter and the speeds are higher. Not bad… Here’s a rundown of the new printers:

Troy Secure MICR Toner…Worth it?

You may have notice that Troy sells something called “Secure” MICR toner cartridges. The “Advantage” of Troy Secure MICR toner is that it smears a red dye on the page if tampered with. There are several reasons why this is probably not the best use of your money. Mainly most check fraud these days isn’t done via check alteration. Most people that engage in check fraud these days simply reproduce checks using their own check paper and MICR toner. Additionally our 500 series of check paper has built in chemical reactivity so if someone attempts to alter a check, the paper reacts and the check is ruined.

A good quality check paper loaded with security features like our 500 or 600 series check stock is a good way to deter check alteration, as it makes scanning your reproducing your document via a scanner more difficult. If you want to eliminate check fraud a positive pay system is your best bet. Here’s how positive pay works. After every check run, you send a file to your bank with the check #, amount, date and payee. Then when a check is presented to your bank, it has to match up with the positive pay records the bank has on file. If it does not, the bank will not honor the check. Depending on the amount and the quantity of checks you write, it may take over a month if ever for you to realize that someone has written a bogus check against your account. By that time you may find you are out a considerable amount of money. In time you’ll get your money from the bank, but it may take time for the bank to do it’s own investigation and credit the money back.
