New Product: HP CF258A & CF258X MICR Toner for the LaserJet M404 Series
August 5, 2019 – We’ve released New MICR Toner for the HP LaserJet M404n, M404dn, M404dw. Both of these cartridges are new MICR toner cartridges. These are genuine new HP cartridges where we’ve replaced the original toner with MICR (Magnetic) toner. MICR toner cartridges are filled with a proprietary magnetic toner for printing checks with laser printers. The M404 line of printers is a direct replacement for the LaserJet M402 series. Specifications for this printer are virtually identical to it’s predecessor and both printers can print up to at 40 pages per minute.
The CF258A MICR Toner Cartridge has a page yield of 3,000 pages and sells for $170.00 each.

The CF258X MICR Toner Cartridge is a high yield toner cartridge has a page yield of 10,000 pages and sells for $310 each.

If you do the math, the CF258X MICR Toner Cartridge is by far the most cost efficient. But if you only write a few checks a year, the CF258A may be your best bet.
We’ve sold hundreds of the LaserJet M402n MICR laser printers and they have been very reliable. We expect the M404n to be as reliable as it’s predecessor. At the moment we continue to sell the M402n MICR laser printer but eventually we plan to sell a LaserJet M404n MICR Laser Printer.
