Tufts Health Plan in Watertown, MA, had to alert 70,000 members to an inadvertent disclosure of their health plan information, after it was exposed in the window of envelopes mailed out by one of its vendors.
The Tufts’s vendor mailed plan ID cards with the member’s ID number, name and address visible inside the envelope window, which is a big non-no. The Story of Advantage Laser Products
The company began in Tuscaloosa, Alabama when Brian Chaney and Marvin Masson, two college friends, partnered to launch a desktop printing company in 1987. After their Apple Laser Writer printer cartridge ran out of toner, they learned about how to refill printer cartridges and decided to start Advantage Laser Products. In 1992, John Miller merged his software company with Advantage Laser Products and in 1994 the company moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Since that time, the three have worked in close partnership and have built the company with a dedicated team, where more than two thirds of their employees have been with the company for over 15 years. Employees all agree, it’s an amazing place to work with a diverse team of employees from a range of backgrounds, who all believe in hard work and playing hard as well.
Order early – UPS and FedEx are slowing down during record breaking holiday season
This year UPS has forecast to ship more than 30 million packages daily for Christmas rush. FedEx predicts it will move a record-breaking 317 million shipments between Black Friday (November 27) and Christmas Eve.
That means things will slow down a bit. FedEx has not given us any notification that they will slow down, but based on what we are seeing from UPS, it would be safe to assume your packages might take an extra day (or two) for shipments this week. Our advice – Order early!
Despite our “Give the Gift of Toner” Christmas promotion, we are not experiencing a mad Christmas rush for MICR toner and blank check paper, so our shipments are shipping the same day ordered as always.

Advlaser.com and MICRpro.com are save from Heartbleed security bug.
In case you were wondering, our websites www.advlaser.com and www.micrpro.com were never vunerable to the Heartbleed security bug. Both of our sites are both hosted by Volusion. Fortunately all Volusion stores are safe from this security flaw. While the issue is potentially very serious, Volusion and thus Advlaser.com, doesn’t use OpenSSL for encryption. Therefore Volusion was never vulnerable to this security issue, so there’s no need to change your passwords on advlaser.com. One reason we use Volusion is that they take security very seriously. Winter Weather Causing Delay In Shipments of MICR Toner Cartridges and Check Stock
January 28, 2014 – the winter weather really hit us hard on Tuesday. Unfortunately FedEx didn’t run, so none of our MICR toner cartridges or check paper were shipped. The way it’s shaping up, we are unlikely to be able to ship any product out Wednesday as well, but we will try. Thursday looks promising and if FedEx runs, we’ll have quite a load of toner cartridges to ship.

It’s that time again, each year both FedEx and UPS raise their rates. This year the rate increase is 4.9%. We’ve decided to keep the 2013 rates for 2014, so you’ll save an additional 4.9% on shipping each time you order. Our volume with FedEx gives us the room to pass along the standard FedEx rates discounted by 4.9%. As usual all toner cartridges ship free of charge.*
